Apprenticeship programme in Denmark
Become a transport planning expert with the Nagel-Group apprenticeship programme
Nothing is more exciting than first-hand information. Patrick Valant is 30 years old and works as a apprentice in transport planning at the Nagel-Group in Denmark. In this interview, he talks about his experiences with the apprenticeship programme.
Patrick, why did you decide on an apprenticeship programme with the Nagel-Group?
Through my brother, who also works for a logistics company in Denmark, I was already familiar with the logistics industry before I started working.
I got to know the Nagel-Group through an internship. During this time, I learned about the career opportunities within the company. Due to the size of the company, there are numerous opportunities for advancement after my time as an apprentice. I was extremely interested in the offer to start as an apprentice in transport planning because I had already noticed during my internship that I enjoy this area of work very much.
It was important to me that I also had the opportunity to take on responsibility during my time as an apprentice.
How did your first days go, and are you already fully integrated into the team?
I particularly like the fact that I had a mentor right from the start, who explained all the tasks and procedures to me in detail. This gave me the confidence I needed to be able to carry out tasks independently and grow with new tasks. Additionally, even though I am now a regular team member with my areas of responsibility, all colleagues are there to help me with any questions I may have.
What are your plans at the Nagel-Group?
This summer, I’m starting an economics degree programme in addition to my apprenticeship programme. I hope to be able to work in various branches afterwards to gain an insight into the Group’s operations. I can work in different countries. Initially, I would like to gain further experience here in Denmark and complete my studies.
Do you have any tips for applicants or other apprentices?
If you are interested in an apprenticeship programme with the Nagel-Group, be curious and responsible! Ask as many questions as possible – and not only within your department. Question the processes and drive your personal development
Thank you for the interesting interview, Patrick!
