Nagel-Group expands its site to include a state-of-the-art truck repair workshop
Bochum/ 25 March 2021. The food logistics company Nagel-Group is expanding its site in Harpener Hellweg. A new truck repair workshop with state-of-the-art equipment and truck wash is currently under construction on site.
The go-ahead to start building had been given last May. The new repair workshop has now been completed. The area of almost 700 square metres allows up to three semi-trailers to be repaired and serviced simultaneously. The repair workshop is also equipped with a brake tester, meaning much more comprehensive semi-trailer maintenance and repair can be carried out in-house. The building connects directly to a wash facility to ensure the vehicles are cleaned after work has been completed before returning to the fleet.
Increased time savings and optimised operational readiness
“The new repair workshop gives us much more flexibility,” explains Björn Heinermann, Branch Manager in Bochum. The key factors are, above all, the time saved and the corresponding gains in operational readiness of the vehicles. “Our ability to maintain up to three semi-trailers on site simultaneously results in considerably improved availability. We can also ensure that even the smallest defects are checked and addressed immediately, preventing them from posing a safety risk,” describes Heinermann, in summarising the benefits of the new repair workshop. Another feature is that the facility is not only open to the company’s own semi-trailers and trucks. External customers and partners can also avail of its services.
Flexibility for the future
The contractor for the 2.5-million-euro project is Kappel Gruppe, which built the new hall of Nagel-Group’s refrigerated logistics centre in Bochum in 2018. The repair workshop, which is almost eight metres high, is designed to allow for further expansion of capacities. Doing so allows the building to be adapted as its tasks grow. “We are delighted to have once again created added value for Nagel-Group in Bochum. The repair workshop makes the site even more attractive,” says Uwe Kappel, Managing Director.
