As one of the leading food logistics companies in Europe, Nagel-Group is pursuing a comprehensive digitalisation strategy. One of the strategy’s goals is to be capable of mapping business processes as cloud services in the long term. One key aspect in the quest for a partner was the intention to replace Nagel-Group’s existing legacy Transport Management System (TMS) and Warehouse Management System (WMS) applications with the in-house developed CAL Suite. The logistics provider from Westphalia decided that DextraData GmbH was the partner they could count on to provide the consulting, analysis, and managed services to advance the technical requirements for introducing CAL Suite, Nagel-Group’s supply chain platform.
“Whether we are talking about cloud computing, blockchain or artificial intelligence – the world is becoming more digital and interconnected. This is especially the case for our industry, logistics, which is already experiencing the revolutionary changes resulting from new technologies. We are driving forward projects that address these trends and keep our organisation fit for the future in line with our digitalisation strategy,” says Michael Lütjann, Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Nagel-Group. “Our partnership with DextraData is a major building block towards achieving this objective. The joint project is progressing well and smoothly. We are successfully working together in a spirit of mutual trust at all levels.”
“I am delighted about the trust Nagel-Group has placed in us, our expertise in operating hybrid data-centre and cloud infrastructures, as well as modern application architectures. Thanks to our CIO Cockpit ITFM solution, Nagel-Group will always have the identical daily view of the digital resources that we have as the operating company,” explains Shayan Faghfouri, Managing Director of DextraData GmbH.
IT as a value-adding element
Thanks to the CIO Cockpit, the CIO always knows the status of the IT DC infrastructure based on accurately compiled and up-to-date company data. The CIO Cockpit can also assess scenarios and create informed forecasts. One example is projecting and planning for resource requirements in the IT data centres – both in terms of growth trajectories and new business requirements. Based on this, the CIO can formulate actions, measures, decisions, and investment strategies.
