“The logistics centre in Schweitenkirchen is extremely significant for Nagel-Group’s presence in the south of Germany and its connections to and from Austria. This expansion provides us with entirely new opportunities in the deep-frozen sector, among others. It also allows us and our customers to exploit growth opportunities – especially since such capacities are in high demand,” says Carsten Taucke, CEO of Nagel-Group. The investment is part of a large-scale project to modernise the company’s site infrastructure. “This year, we have already launched a major project in Hamburg and several other real estate projects. On top of the many IT projects and measures we have initiated to digitalise our processes, we are also focusing on expanding a modern network structure,” says Carsten Taucke, CEO of Nagel-Group.
Nagel-Group already has a site in the Schweitenkirchen business park, covering chilled and dry goods on 20,000 square metres of logistics and handling space. Nagel-Group’s Real Estate team will manage the large-scale project to expand frozen capacities. The first construction activity is set to start in early summer 2022 with completion scheduled for the end of 2023. Nagel-Group will launch nine construction projects in 2021 and 2022, each representing investments of more than 10 million euros. Expansion projects in Hamburg, Buxheim in the Allgäu region, and Bochum in the Ruhr area are already underway.
“By modernising our logistics centres, we are ensuring the future sustainability of our company,” says Carsten Taucke. “Sustainability is always at the heart of our considerations in all investment projects. We have always thought sustainably as a logistics provider in any case; after all, our core business is to create synergies, for example, through transport bundling. We remain conscious of our responsibility to do even more, though and aim to do so in a structured and focused way – especially in our construction projects,” says the Nagel-Group CEO.
