The food logistics company currently conducts four Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) a year with its six largest partners. In each QBR, the partner is assessed according to a coordinated points matrix, the so-called Supplier Performance Review Index (SPRI), based on three categories (technology, relationship management, cost management). The results of discussions about projects, strategic news, etc. are also included in the assessment. Telekom collected the most points in the overall result for 2023, making it IT- Partner of the Year 2023.

Thanks to the Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) contract concluded with Telekom last year, Nagel-Group is improving its network capacities and bandwidth across all locations, and thus the communication between the locations, the Internet and the cloud applications. Due to intelligent bundling of the existing Internet connections, the offer includes an extended scope of services with cost savings of up to 25 percent, improved user-friendliness across the entire application landscape and optimum (outage) security thanks to an integrated 4G backup at attractive conditions.

“Besides, real-time access controls and integrated threat protection guarantee that the SD-WAN solution will also help us to develop further in the area of cybersecurity,” says Thorsten Wilberding, Head of IT Infrastructure at Nagel-Group. “Telekom is currently implementing all measures to our complete satisfaction and is significantly increasing Nagel-Group’s performance,” adds Michael Lütjann, CIO of Nagel-Group, with praise. Over 90 locations are being migrated during ongoing operations. Operating processes have only been minimally affected so far and over 60 locations have already been converted by the deadline of 30.06.2024.

In addition to implementing the SW-WAN project, the two partners launched joint innovation workshops at the beginning of the year, which now take place on a quarterly basis. Innovation topics such as real-time translation, process mining (a method for understanding and improving operational processes by analyzing event data) and digital twin (a high-precision digital representation of a physical object or system) are discussed and driven forward in these workshops. Using the Nagel-Group’s internal trend radar, the topics relevant to the food logistics company were first identified from the “telecoms repertoire”. “Specifically, we now have two solutions on the shortlist, which we are taking a closer look at and validating,” explains Patrick Petermann, IT sourcing employee at Nagel-Group.
