Sustainable construction project launched: Nagel-Group celebrates ground-breaking ceremony for new logistics hub in Gotha-Emleben
Gotha-Emleben, 17.10.2024. Nagel-Group celebrated the start of construction of a new sustainable logistics property in Gotha-Emleben with a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony – together with OFB Projektentwicklung GmbH, which is implementing the construction project, and Philipp Kalisch, Mayor of the municipality of Emleben. Completion of the new warehouse site with around 35,000 pallet spaces is planned for October 2025.
The logistics property planned on the 35,000 m² building site will be fully occupied by Nagel-Group. An innovative concept comprising logistics, office, social and technical areas will be created on around 21,000 m². The new warehouse for the ambient sector will primarily supply a major confectionery manufacturer in the region. Nagel-Group already operates two logistics sites in Emleben and the neighbouring district town of Gotha, where foodstuffs are stored and handled in all temperature ranges. ‘The Gotha-Emleben site specialises in handling temperature-sensitive confectionery products. In addition to storage, we also provide a wide range of value-added services for our customers, such as display construction, packaging and the removal of product samples,’ explains Markus Dresel, Area Manager South at Nagel-Group.
DGNB Gold certification and an EU Taxonomy-compliant design are being sought for the logistics hub in Gotha-Emleben. ‘Sustainability is an integral part of the development of our logistics properties,’ says André Pleines, Executive Director Real Estate at Nagel-Group. ‘Based on innovative technologies and environmentally friendly construction methods, we are creating an infrastructure that is both ecologically and economically sustainable.’ The sustainability measures at the new property include the exclusive use of air-to-water heat pumps for heating and cooling, LED lighting and a photovoltaic system on the roof, which is used either to supply energy or to feed it into the power grid. The system covers around 8,800 m² and saves around 870 tonnes of CO2 per year compared to conventional energy generation.
The Gotha-Emleben construction project is being realised by OFB Projektentwicklung GmbH. Ralph Holeschovsky, Branch Manager of OFB Projektentwicklung in Erfurt, emphasises: ‘Our aim is to create a modern and sustainable logistics property that meets the highest standards of environmental compatibility and functionality at the same time. Together with the Nagel-Group, we are delighted to be making an important contribution to the economic development of the Emleben site.’
