Digital delivery note on trial: Aldi Süd extends pilot with Nagel-Group

The partners tested the cloud solution Cloud4Log, a cooperation project between GS1 Germany and the German Logistics Association, for six months. The next phase is now underway.

Over the past six months, Aldi Süd and logistics company Nagel-Group have been trialling digital delivery note processes with the Cloud4Log cloud solution. The partners are now planning to expand the pilot project and have extended the test phase until March 2025.

As part of the current extension of the pilot phase, Aldi Süd is testing specially developed requirements for Cloud4Log. Among other things, it is using artificial intelligence (AI) to enable the automated reading of delivery note content. This significantly simplifies the processing of delivery note data and saves time for all participants in the supply chain, according to GS 1 Germany. The cloud solution is a cooperation project between GS1 Germany and the German Logistics Association.

The discounter has also established close partnerships with suppliers and logistics service providers in order to comprehensively test the digital process.

Nagel-Group was already supplying the Aldi Süd regional companies in Langenfeld with frozen products in February 2024. Further product ranges were integrated step by step so that all product areas can be processed via the Cloud4Log digital delivery note. Four regional companies are now involved in the pilot phase: Adelsdorf, Langenfeld, Mönchengladbach and St. Augustin.

According to the provider, Cloud4Log offers a digital solution that enables delivery note processing for all parties involved. The centralised cloud platform allows them to create, manage and exchange delivery notes in real time.

In addition, a self-check-in function is available to drivers in 14 different languages. Other functions can also be realised by solution providers, such as the aforementioned use of AI to read delivery notes. Other functions can also be realised, such as the integration of your own process steps or documentation for eco and quality seal checks.
