Microsoft 365 for “Frontline Workers” project update – Nagel-Group implements pilot project at the first German locations
Versmold, 23/04/2025. Following the successful launch of the pilot project “Microsoft 365 for Frontline Workers” at three Polish locations last year, the next milestone has now been reached: the implementation of the project at the first German locations.
The solution has currently been rolled out for around 600 employees at nine locations, with more to follow. The “Frontline Worker” pilot project was launched to specifically optimise communication and interaction with employees in the operational areas and is being implemented in close cooperation with Microsoft. Paper-based or manual work steps are replaced by a digital solution using Power Apps. In this way, Nagel-Group minimises sources of error, accelerates the flow of information and avoids process bottlenecks.
All information at your fingertips on a single device thanks to Teams and Power Apps
A broad portfolio of M365 applications is already in use in the commercial sector. Microsoft Teams and Power Apps will now seamlessly integrate employees out in the field too. The apps enable fast, direct communication and the reliable transmission of information – with just a single device: the multifunctional scanners in logistics. For example, it will be possible in future to coordinate shift schedules, holidays and sick days digitally.
Microsoft Teams will be the future central hub for communication, teamworking and information exchange at Nagel-Group. Photos can be shared quickly and easily via the platform as part of the delivery documentation. Problems with individual deliveries or in coordinating loading and unloading can be easily resolved across departments by direct message or in group chats.
“The new solution automatically translates chat messages into different languages. This simplifies and speeds up communication between the different nationalities in our warehouses and helps to break down language barriers,” says Daniel Beuße, IT Business Partner, Region North-East at Nagel-Group.
Gradual introduction at other locations
Following the successful expansion of the pilot project at nine locations for the benefit of around 600 employees, the system is now being rolled out successively. The aim is to provide the solution throughout the company for all of Nagel-Group’s 6,000 blue-collar employees.
“We have now created the basis for further digitalisation projects on the shop floor – whether it is new Power Apps or other applications such as Teams Walkie-Talkie,” says Enno Devermann, Head of New Work & Business Solutions at Nagel-Group.
Training programmes directly on the mobile devices via Viva Learning will also be made available in one of the next steps. This allows employees to train flexibly, and the old-fashioned notice boards in the warehouses will be replaced by a digital feature.
