Nagel-Group further expands capacities in Poland – New logistics centre in Gdańsk
Gdańsk, 05/05/2025. Nagel-Group continues to invest in the future and is building a state-of-the-art logistics centre in Gdańsk, Poland, together with project developer LemonTree. A tailor-made location for temperature-controlled food logistics is being created on an area of around 21,000 square metres. Completion is scheduled for 2026.
“We are specifically strengthening our presence in the Polish market with our new building in Gdańsk and creating an infrastructure capable of serving our customers flexibly, sustainably and efficiently in the future,” says Carsten Taucke, CEO of Nagel-Group.

New building project Gdańsk
State-of-the-art technology for temperature-controlled logistics
The new logistics centre is tailored to the exact requirements of temperature-controlled food logistics. The warehouse will have areas for ambient and ultra-fresh products as well as a large cross-docking warehouse. The different zones are fitted with modern cooling systems based on glycol-ammonia technology. The building was designed to future-proof it for the further development of Nagel-Group’s services – not only in terms of goods cross-docking, but also for handling frozen goods. The building structure means additional cooling chambers can be added at a later date without having to compromise the existing structure.
“Our customers rightly expect the highest quality and reliability from us – especially when it comes to sensitive, temperature-controlled products. Our new location is perfect for meeting these requirements,” says Robert Katafiasz, Managing Director of Nagel-Group in Poland.
Modern fire protection systems ensure the highest safety standards. A large-scale glass façade creates bright office space, while a separate co-packing zone on a mezzanine level in the ultra-fresh area offers extra capacity for value-added services.
Focus on sustainability and energy efficiency
The new location will be planned and realised with sustainability a consistent focus. The office and storage areas are heated by heat pumps, which also make use of waste heat from the cooling processes. Additional heat pumps come into play in the winter months, when heat recovery is not sufficient, to ensure effective energy management. A 1.5 MWp-capacity photovoltaic system on the roof supports the company’s own power supply. Rainwater is used to maintain the green areas and to clean the semi-trailers – a contribution to conserving resources.
Strong partnership with LemonTree

The COOL BTS Gdańsk by LemonTree project is the next step in our collaboration and exploits advanced technologies to support Nagel-Group’s logistics activities. We are convinced that the building will perfectly meet customer needs and the changing requirements of the logistics industry,” emphasises Maciej Krawiecki, COO and Head of Development and Leasing at LemonTree.
