The visionary
(1962-2008)
Milestones in the company’s history
22 May 1935
The brothers Kurt and Rudolf Nagel found the ‘Gebr. Nagel’ (Nagel Brothers) haulage company in Versmold, Westphalia, Germany. The young entrepreneurs’ first vehicle: a 10-tonne Büssing truck.
1945
Kurt Nagel resumes business after the Second World War with just a single truck trailer.
1968 – 85
New branches are established throughout Germany. The company’s workforce numbers almost 2,000; the vehicle fleet comprises around 750 vehicles.
1987
The first foreign subsidiary is established in the Netherlands.
1993 – 2001
Nagel-Group continues to expand its network to Great Britain, Sweden, Italy, Austria, France, and Denmark with a number of takeovers and start-ups.
2002 – 2004
Expansion into Eastern Europe with subsidiaries in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia.
2007
The largest logistics facility at the Borgholzhausen site commissioned: Europe’s largest refrigerator!
2009
Largest dry goods warehouse opened in Schönberg (Nagel LK Logistik) covering 40,000m2.
2010
Entry into the frozen-food segment with the founding of Eurocool Nagel.
2011
Market entry in Switzerland.
2012-2014
Nagel-Group brand established and promoted throughout Europe.
2016
Nagel-Group strengthens its deep-frozen products expertise: takeover of MUK-Transthermos.
2017
Nagel-Group is the first logistics company to be awarded the ZNU (Center for Sustainable Leadership) sustainability certificate.
2019
Nagel-Group acquires all shares of TCW
Wustermark GmbH and TCG Glesien.
