For me, EMPOWER means being part of something big, where all the cogwheels need to be in sync to ensure long-term success.

Dennis Schlüter

Position: Dispatcher in international traffic

Part of Nagel-Group since: August 2013

My career at Nagel-Group and before that:

2013

Apprenticeship as commercial operative for forwarding and logistics services I at Nagel-Group at their Borgholzhausen site

2016

After successfully completing my apprenticeship, I began my employment as a dispatcher in national long-distance traffic

2018

I carried out my further training as a certified specialist for freight transport and logistics during my employment at Nagel-Group

2019

Switched to international dispatch, which meant taking on further tasks and the increased responsibility that comes with it

When I started my apprenticeship at Nagel-Group in 2013, after graduating from school at the age of 17, I had no idea what to expect. Right from the start, I was well looked after by all colleagues, and there was always a helpful colleague on hand to answer any questions I had. This, coupled with the great way the apprenticeship was organised, made it much easier for me to enter the professional world.

When I decided in 2017 that I wanted to continue my education, I was immediately supported by my supervisors. Together we thought about which further training would be useful and how compatible it would be with my work. We found a solution quite quickly; as a result, today I can now proudly call myself a certified specialist for freight transport and logistics.

What has surprised me from the very beginning of my time at Nagel-Group has been the very many opportunities that this large company offers. There is a wide range of branches distributed throughout Europe, which together form a huge network. On the one hand, this creates great career opportunities. On the other, it makes it a logistical challenge to manage the handling of transports in these dimensions.

My current area of responsibility essentially consists of dispatching activities of company vehicles which are in permanent use in our international area. That means I communicate a lot with the drivers, have to observe the driving and rest times generally in force, and I am also the contact person if problems arise anywhere. This makes the job very varied, as new challenges have to be mastered every day. Another advantage of these duties is that I get to work a lot with different people, which I really love.
